KATHMANDU: Chair of the main opposition CPN Maoist Centre, Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda, has cursed the current ruling coalition during a warning assembly held on Saturday in Kathmandu’s Exhibition Road.

While addressing the assembly, Dahal stated that the ruling parties would decay and fall on their own.

“You are going against good governance in favor of protecting corrupt individuals and intermediaries,” he said. “You will decay and fall on your own.”

Accusing the government of siding with corrupt individuals, Dahal argued that the ruling coalition cannot blame the Maoists if they collapse. He also claimed that the assembly was not organized to topple the government.

“You cannot blame us,” said Dahal, a former Prime Minister. “We are not holding this assembly to overthrow the government.”

He asserted that the warning assembly had already signaled what the future could hold if the government did not take its message seriously.

“I want to challenge the government to take this assembly seriously,” Dahal added.

Dahal suggested that the government should not repeat its irresponsibility during the floods and landslides that followed the heavy rains in early Ashwin. He cautioned against negligence in providing aid and rehabilitation.

“Yesterday’s negligence should not be repeated. Relief and rehabilitation must be handled responsibly,” Dahal said.

He pointed out that the current government was formed against good governance, stating that it was created by deceiving its own party members and visiting brokers’ homes at midnight. Dahal noted that their suspicions about the government have been confirmed as it nears a hundred days in power.

He stated that the Maoist Centre has begun searching for alternatives to the government from the streets, following the organization of the warning assembly.

“We did not hold this assembly to overthrow the government; rather, it is a warning to prevent further deterioration and corruption,” Dahal clarified.

He expressed that the Maoists were unconcerned about the government, admitting that they regretted collaborating with brokers and capitalist parties.
