Attorney General’s written response to petition seeking suspension of Home Minister: No right to file petition

Attorney General Dinmani Pokharel has submitted a written response to the Supreme Court regarding the petition demanding the suspension of Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane in connection with a cooperative fraud case. In his response, Attorney General Pokharel argues that the petition should be dismissed as the petitioner lacks a meaningful connection to the issue. The petition, filed by Advocate Anupam Bhattarai, is currently under consideration.

Arjun Lama murder case: SC postpones date for verdict on former Speaker Agni Sapkota

The verdict date for the case against former Speaker and CPN-Maoist Center spokesperson Agni Sapkota has been postponed. Although the Constitutional Bench at the Supreme Court (SC) had scheduled the verdict for Wednesday, it was delayed due to the absence of one judge. The writ petition, filed on charges of murder in the case of Arjun Lama from Kavre, had its arguments concluded on June 5, and a decision date was set.

Parliamentary Committee on Cooperatives-related Fraud demands documents from Gorkha Media

The Special Investigation Committee on Cooperatives has decided to request documents from Gorkha Media Network Pvt Ltd. In its sixth meeting on Wednesday, the committee sent letters requesting documents related to nine cooperatives and the funds disbursed from various cooperatives to Gorkha Media and others. During Wednesday’s meeting, the committee also sought advice from former ministers Deepak Prakash Baskota and Keshav Prasad Badal, who are considered knowledgeable in the cooperative sector.

Lamjung landslide: Bodies of all four missing people recovered

A landslide that occurred on Tuesday night swept away three houses in Lamjung, killing four people. The bodies of those who had gone missing in the incident at Kwhlosothar Rural Municipality-3 have been recovered, according to resident Chitra Ghale. The deceased have been identified as Rudra Man Gurung, 67, his daughter-in-law Pancha Kumari Gurung, 36, and her two daughters, Ichha Gurung, eight, and Namrata Gurung, four.

Flights disrupted as floodwaters inundate Biratnagar Airport

Biratnagar Airport has been closed due to flooding. Overflowing floodwaters from nearby settlements have inundated the airport, causing flight disruptions and the subsequent closure of the airport. The floodwaters from the settlement have obstructed the access road to the airport. Additionally, the helipad has been submerged by the floodwaters. However, the airport authority has reported that the runway itself has not been flooded so far.

NEPSE drops by 11.60 points on Wednesday

The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index fell by 11.60 points on Wednesday, closing at 2060 points. There was a slight decrease in the trading volume, dropping from Rs 4.18 billion the previous day to Rs 4.05 billion today. While the prices of 57 companies increased, 186 saw declines, and 3 remained unchanged. Most sectoral indices also decreased today.

NEB reschedules SEE result for Thursday

The result of this year’s Secondary Education Examination (SEE) is rescheduled to be announced on Thursday. The National Examination Board has stated that the result will be made public by 1 pm tomorrow. The result was initially planned to be released today. However, due to technical issues, the announcement has been postponed to tomorrow.

Women’s Asia Cup 2024: Nepal Vs UAE and India vs Pakistan on July 19

Eight teams will compete in the ninth edition of the cricket tournament, to be held in Sri Lanka from July 19. The final will be played on July 28. The Nepali cricket team will play against the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the Indian cricket team will play arch-rivals Pakistan in its opening group stage match of the Women’s Asia Cup T20 2024 tournament, which is scheduled to start on July 19.
