NC holding protest in capital against cooperative fraud today

KATHMANDU: The Nepali Congress (NC), the main opposition party, is scheduled to hold a protest in Kathmandu against cooperative fraud on Sunday.

The protest will take place at Bhrikutimandap at 2 PM.

The NC is demanding the formation of a parliamentary committee to investigate the alleged involvement of Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane in the case.

A joint meeting of the party’s central working committee and parliamentary party committee on Wednesday decided to initiate street protests against the government.

In the first phase of the protest, the NC will start demonstrations from all 15 election constituencies in Kathmandu.

For the past month, the NC has been obstructing parliamentary meetings, demanding a probe committee to investigate Home Minister Lamichhane.

Due to the ruling parties’ reluctance to address their demand, the NC is now taking their protests to the streets.
