Likhu Tamakoshi’s former Chairperson and five others found guilty in corruption case

KATHMANDU: Six people, including the former Chairperson of Likhu Tamakoshi Rural Municipality, have been convicted in a corruption case by the Special Court in Kathmandu.

The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) had filed a corruption case against 27 individuals, including Likhu Chair Khadka, for their alleged involvement in corruption during electrification projects.

Out of the accused, six have been found guilty, while the remaining 21 have been acquitted, according to Deputy Registrar and spokesperson of the Special Court, Dhan Bahadur Karki.

The convicted individuals include former Chairperson Khadka, along with Raju Prasad Neupane, Tank Prasad Chaulagai, Durgabahadur Tamang, Norbu Lama, and Amrit Bahadur Tamang from Paik Construction.

Khadka has been fined Rs 9.9 million and sentenced to six months imprisonment. Similarly, Neupane and Chaulagai have been sentenced to three months in prison and a fine of Rs 6.3 million each, while Tamang and Lama face the same three-month imprisonment and a fine of Rs 3.1 million each.
