NC should pursue honesty and competence in politics: Gagan Thapa

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) General Secretary Gagan Thapa has called for the party to seek honest and competent individuals.

Speaking at a discussion titled “Nepali Democratic Movement and the New Democracy” organized in Kathmandu on Tuesday, the NC General Secretary stated that there has been a proliferation of anomalies in politics.

“NC, as the oldest and largest democratic force needs honest and competent individuals. Politics has seen a rampant proliferation of anomalies,” Thapa said, adding, “We are witnessing a scenario where people come into politics, indulge in superficial activities, show off, rally certain stunt and disappear.”

He emphasized the importance of patience, momentum, and intellect in political leaders.

Thapa stressed the need for NC to embrace its ideology properly and maintain patience.

“Society outside is progressing rapidly. People desire change in their lifetimes. Young people, in particular, want significant changes,” he said, “Those who engage in provocative politics, aiming for profound transformations, have misused it.”

Thapa advocated for consciousness-driven politics and urged efforts for transformation.
