Rain coupled with lightning expected in hilly areas today



KATHMANDU: The Weather Forecasting Division has issued a warning stating that a western low-pressure system is currently influencing Nepal, alongside a low-pressure system in North East Assam and surrounding areas of India.

Across the nation, there’s a mix of partial to general cloud cover, with some regions in Bagmati and Gandaki provinces experiencing light rainfall.

This afternoon, hilly areas are expected to be partly to mostly cloudy.

There’s a forecast for scattered light rain accompanied by thunder and lightning in select areas of Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, extending to other hilly regions.

In the high hills and Himalayan zones of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, there’s a possibility of light snowfall at isolated spots.

Tonight, the Koshi Province anticipates partly to mostly cloudy conditions.

There’s a likelihood of isolated light rain with thunder and lightning in the hilly terrains of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces.

The Division has warned of possible light snowfall in a few areas of the high hilly and Himalayan regions of Koshi and Gandaki provinces.

Given the potential for rain, thunder, lightning, and snowfall, the Weather Forecasting Division has urged residents and stakeholders to take necessary precautions, as these weather conditions could impact daily activities such as agriculture, health services, tourism, mountain expeditions, and transportation by road and air.
