Rajendra Mahato quits LSP; announces new campaign

KATHMANDU: Senior leader of the Loktantrik Samajwadi Party (LSP), Rajendra Mahato, has resigned from the party.

Mahato, along with Buddhi Chiring Moktan, who advocates for the rights of indigenous communities, has announced a new campaign named “Rastriya Mukti Kranti” (National Liberation Movement).

Expressing the goal of building an alternative power through the campaign, Mahato has indicated that even his former party, LSP, might join this agenda if they agree on the establishment of a federalism with multiple states.

“This is a separate campaign, and it has not taken over the structure of the party,” Mahato stated in a program held in Kathmandu on Mondy, adding, “Those who share common values can collaborate with this movement.”

Mahato, who was a senior leader in LSP, was dissatisfied with the decisions made by Chairman Mahantha Thakur.

He expressed his discontent with the Thakur’s unitary decision to appoint office bearers, had also boycotted the party’s Central Committee in December.
