UML obstructs HoR meeting; House adjourned for 15 minutes

KATHMANDU: The House of Representatives (HoR) meeting, convened at 11 am, was disrupted by slogans raised by members of the main opposition party, CPN-UML.

The lawmakers called for adherence to the Speaker’s rulings and swift action against perceived transgressions by government ministers.

The uproar prompted Speaker Devraj Ghimire to adjourn the session for a 15-minute recess as tensions escalated within the parliamentary parties.

During the session, CPN-UML lawmaker Gokul Baskota utilized his time to press for answers on critical parliamentary issues, including the resignation of controversial ministers, concerns related to farmers, and other pressing matters.

Expressing frustration, Baskota remarked, “The same issues are brought up repeatedly. Is the government turning a deaf ear to our concerns? It is blatantly disregarding the grievances raised by opposition parties in this representative assembly.”

In today’s meeting, Finance Minister Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat is slated to present the principles and priorities of the budget for the financial year 2080/81.
