Executive Chairman of Platinum College, Jiwan Gurung, arrested in connection with 14 kg gold smuggling case



KATHMANDU: Jiwan Kumar Gurung, the Executive Chairman of Platinum College, has been arrested in connection with a gold smuggling case involving 14 kg of gold from Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA).

According to SP Hobindra Bogati, the spokesperson for the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB), Gurung was arrested in Samakhushi last night.

Bogati informed that arrangements are underway to transfer him to the airport customs office.

In a related development, another individual, with a permanent residence in Parbat, is currently in custody for his involvement in the gold smuggling case originating from Dubai.

This person had been evading authorities since the issuance of an arrest warrant.

Legal action has been initiated against the accused, including Chandra Ghale and Min Bahadur Ghale, with a claim amounting to 1.44 billion 55 million rupees.

The case has been filed in the Kathmandu District Court.
