KATHMANDU: Gogan Bahadur Hamal, the Chief of Tribhuvan International Airport’s Immigration Office, along with two others, was reportedly assaulted by the police.

Sources indicate that when Hamal entered Immigration Officer Chhaya Lal Moktan’s room to review CCTV footage for investigating the assault incident, he was allegedly kicked from behind by the police.

The reason behind the police assault remains undisclosed.

Allegedly, there has been tension between Nepal Police and immigration officials, especially in light of recent issues related to visit visas.

Additionally, there are reports of dissatisfaction among police officials after the government decided to deploy the Armed Police Force at TIA.
