KATHMANDU: In the ICC U-19 Cricket World Cup match against Afghanistan, Nepal showcased an impressive start.
Despite losing the toss and being put into bowling first, Nepal secured crucial wickets in the opening two overs. Gulshan Jha and Akash Chand both made immediate impacts, with Chand claiming an additional wicket, dismissing Jamshid Zadran.
After winning the toss in East London, South Africa, Afghanistan’s openers Numan Sah and Khalid Taniwal were both sent back to the pavilion without scoring. Zadran managed to contribute just 3 runs off 14 balls.
Nepal, during their initial bowling spell, implemented two changes in their lineup. Tilak Bhandari and Deepak Bohara replaced Durgash Gupta and Uttar Magar in the playing XI.
Both teams are vying for a crucial victory to advance to the Super Six stage, having previously faced defeats against Pakistan and New Zealand.
The ICC will organize Super Six matches for the top three teams in each group, with the top two teams from both groups progressing to the semifinals.
