Saplings planted in world heritage site Swayambhu



KATHMANDU: A total of 1,000 saplings have been planted in the world heritage site, Swayambhu.

The Swayambhu Management and Conservation General Committee planted 12 species of saplings, including dhupi and chanp, on Wednesday.

Officials and employees of the General Committee, along with members of the Nepal Army and Nepal Police, coordinated the planting with the District Forest Division Office, Yamaha B Farm, and Yokohama City University of Japan.

Ward Chair of Kathmandu Metropolitan City-15, Ishwor Man Dangol, stated that tree plantation is crucial for controlling soil erosion and maintaining greenery in the Swayambhu area.

General Secretary Ashok Buddhacharya reported that the renovation of Swayambhu Chaitya has been completed at a cost of Rs 5 million.
