KATHMANDU: In solemn recognition of Wednesday’s devastating Saurya Airlines plane crash that claimed the lives of 18 passengers, the government has decided to fly the national flag at half-mast today (Thursday).

Additionally, a 5-member commission, led by Ratish Chandra Lal Suman, former Director General of Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN), has been formed to conduct a thorough investigation into the incident.

The commission, chaired by Karna, has been given a mandate to deliver its findings within 45 days, accompanied by recommendations aimed at preventing future tragedies.

In a concerted effort to bolster aviation safety, all domestic airlines have pledged to implement mandatory aircraft inspections.

CAAN, in parallel, will intensify its oversight to reinforce safety protocols across the board.
