SC mandates affiliation for Durga Prasai’s B&C Medical College

KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court directed authorities to grant affiliation to Durga Prasai’s B&C Medical College in Birtamod, Jhapa on Monday.

In their decision, a division bench of Supreme Court justices Dr. Kumar Chudal and Saranga Subedi instructed the authorities to provide affiliation to B&C Medical College.

The SC directive mandates granting affiliation to the hospital upon completion of the affiliation process.

While the government had issued an intention letter for affiliation, the process was halted due to Dr. Govinda KC’s agitation for medical education reform.

Despite constructing the structure following the government’s Letter of Intent (LOI), permission was not granted.

Prasai had filed a writ petition in the Supreme Court regarding the prolonged issue, which resulted in Monday’s decision.
