CIAA cracks down on land shenanigans: 187, including officials, accused of shifting public land to private hands

KATHMANDU: The Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has filed a case at the Special Court against 187 individuals, including government officials, on the charge of illegally converting 384 ropanis and 8 annas of government land into private ownership in Damak, Jhapa.

Former land officer of Jhapa, Ramdev Mandal, and 186 others are accused of unlawfully registering government-owned public land in the names of individuals through fraudulent means, exploiting the government land registration process, resulting in both illegal gains and losses.

The accused individuals have allegedly abused their authority by manipulating the self-declaration process to register public land in the names of specific individuals, leading to corruption and fraudulent activities.
