DAMAK: The Dairy Industry Association of Koshi Province expressed its appreciation for the government’s decision to impose a ban on the import of dairy products.

In a meeting held in Damak on Saturday, proprietors from eight major dairy industries affiliated with the association unanimously welcomed the decision, citing it as a positive step towards providing relief to the domestic dairy sector.

Ramchandra Upreti, Coordinator of the Association, highlighted the adverse impact of free imports on the local market, noting that domestic products were struggling to compete.

He stated, “Due to free import, local products were not being sold, and hence we are happy with the recent decision of the government to stop imports.”

In addition to endorsing the import ban, the Association resolved to address payment issues faced by dairy farmers promptly.

It was decided that the association would prioritize purchasing local products to support internal consumption and boost the domestic dairy industry.

The meeting was attended by representatives from prominent dairy entities including NMC Dairy Industry, Sagarmatha Dairy Association, Kamdhenu Dairy Cooperatives, Ritika Dairy Industry, Shivam Dairy Industries, Gorus Dairy Pvt. Ltd, Jeevan Bikas Dairy, and Madani Milk House.
