KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) candidate Krishna Prasad Sitaula emerged victorious in the National Assembly election, securing a seat from Koshi Province.
Sitaula confirmed his journey to the National Assembly by defeating Uddhav Paudel, the joint candidate of CPN-UML and RPP.
His triumph underscores the strong support for the Nepali Congress in Koshi and signals a significant win in the ongoing National Assembly elections.
A total of 148 votes were cast in favor of UML’s Parshuram Adhikari.
In the Province Assembly comprising 93 members, Sitaula received 45 votes, while RPP candidate Paudel garnered 47 votes.
At the local level, Sitaula secured 153 votes, surpassing RPP candidate Paudel who garnered 109 votes.
Notably, 4 votes at the local level have been invalidated.
Additionally, there was one invalid vote at the provincial level.
In the women’s category, UML’s Rukmani Koirala clinched victory by defeating Maoist candidate Champa Karki in Koshi Province.
