KATHMANDU: Humla district has experienced significant snowfall, which began late Monday evening after clear skies earlier in the day.

According to Chief District Officer Narayan Pandey, snow has accumulated up to two inches in Simkot, the district headquarters, while the higher altitudes, including the northern areas of Namkha Rural Municipality, saw up to a foot of snow.

The sudden drop in temperature has intensified the cold, causing disruptions in daily life.

The snowfall has particularly affected villages in the Limi, Yari, Halji, Til, and Hilsa Chala areas of Namkha, further complicating movement in the region.

Simkot is now experiencing temperatures below freezing, while rainfall has been reported in the southern parts of the district.

Chief District Officer Pandey has issued a safety advisory urging the elderly and children to remain indoors during the snowfall and warned residents of nearby areas to be cautious of potential avalanches.
