PM Oli commends UN Peacekeepers on UN Day

KAHTMANDU: Prime Minister KP Oli praised the dedication of UN peacekeepers, especially those in the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), during a UN Day event organized by the Ministry of Defense and the Nepali Army.

He emphasized Nepal’s longstanding commitment to peace, equality, and multilateralism, highlighting the nation’s contributions to UN missions and the need for global cooperation to address pressing challenges like climate change.

Oli reaffirmed Nepal’s foreign policy of peaceful coexistence and the importance of collaborative solutions to global issues.

He noted the increased dangers faced by peacekeepers and stressed the need for better support and training, particularly for women in peacekeeping roles.

The Prime Minister highlighted the disproportionate impact of climate change on countries like Nepal, despite their minimal carbon emissions, and called for a united global response to these challenges.

He expressed confidence in the UN’s leadership on climate issues and reaffirmed Nepal’s commitment to supporting global peace, security, and sustainable development.
