Ravi Lamichhane: Government plot to arrest him over Cooperative fraud case

KATHMANDU:  Ravi Lamichhane, chair of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), has accused the government of orchestrating a plan to implicate him in a cooperative fraud case.

Speaking live on Facebook from the party’s central office on Tuesday, Lamichhane expressed readiness to face arrest, claiming that authorities are targeting him based on a statement from former Gorkha Media Network director, Chhabi Lal Joshi.

Lamichhane alleged that the government is searching for any means to detain him. “The government is looking for a way to arrest me, even from the statement of Chhabi Lal Joshi,” Lamichhane stated, “I have come to the party office with a bag, ready to be arrested.”

He also directed criticism at Nepali Congress General Secretary Gagan Thapa.

“There were those who said that if my involvement in the cooperative fraud is not confirmed, they would leave politics. Now, there is a dilemma,” Lamichhane remarked.

He added that while others may not follow through on their promises, he would willingly step down from politics if found guilty of involvement in the scandal.

Previously, General Secretary Thapa had declared that he would resign from politics if Lamichhane’s involvement in the cooperative fraud was not verified.
