Creative Entrepreneurs Fair promotes domestic production in Kathmandu

KATHMANDU: The Creative Entrepreneurs Fair has begun at the Amrapali Complex in Baluwatar with the goal of promoting domestic production and reducing imports in Nepal.

The event, organized by the Creative Entrepreneurs Women’s Centre, features a wide array of locally made products, including handicrafts, agricultural goods, clothing, and cosmetics, all available for purchase.

The fair was inaugurated by Hariprabha Khadgi, the Minister for Social Development in Bagmati Province.

During the opening ceremony, Minister Khadgi emphasized the importance of supporting domestic and small-scale industries as a means to reduce dependence on imports.

She highlighted that products from handicrafts and cottage industries not only create jobs but also invigorate the rural economy.

Minister Khadgi further noted that the increased consumption of indigenous products could foster capital mobilization and help reduce plastic pollution.

Hem Chandra Subedi, Chair of the Aha Radio Network, also addressed the gathering, stressing the need for industrialization to drive economic development in the country.

He noted that the growth of the cottage industry would be particularly beneficial for enriching the rural economy.

Milu Thapa, President of the Creative Entrepreneurs Women’s Centre, remarked that if women are able to develop professional skills, it could lead to significant social and economic transformation for their families.

The fair will run until Sunday.
