Cabinet decisions: Cities to be free of street children within a year



KATHMANDU: The government has resolved to eradicate the persistent issue of street children from urban areas within the span of one year.

Minister for Communications and Information Technology and Government Spokesperson, Prithvi Subba Gurung, announced that during a recent Cabinet meeting, it was unanimously decided to achieve the goal of making cities free of street children by mid-July next year.

The Cabinet also approved providing equal monetary relief to families who have lost members in disasters and have been missing for over ten days without trace.

Minister Gurung expressed condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in recent disasters and conveyed wishes for a speedy recovery to those injured.

Furthermore, the government has undertaken initiatives to upgrade the cricket stadium in Kirtipur to meet international standards, including the installation of floodlights and the construction of a parapet within 300 days.
