Ram Bahadur Bamjan convicted in child sexual abuse case

SARLAHI: The alleged ascetic, Ram Bahadur Bamjan, has been convicted of child sexual abuse by the Sarlahi District Court.

The bench of District Judge Jeevan Kumar Bhandari found Bamjan, who is currently in custody at Sarlahi prison, guilty of the charges.

Bamjan was arrested by the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of the police on January 9, 2024, and has since been detained.

The court’s verdict determined his guilt in the child sexual abuse case.

The court has yet to determine his sentence, which will be decided in a separate hearing.

Bamjan faces multiple charges across several districts including Sarlahi, Parsa, Sindhuli, and Sindhupalchok, involving sexual misconduct and forced disappearances.

Bamjan had been on the police’s wanted list for a long time.

He was eventually apprehended from his residence in Budhanilkantha.
