Representatives from NC, UML and Unified Socialist oppose Mayor Balen’s ‘No Vehicle Zone’ proposal

KATHMANDU: The Ward Chairpersons from the Nepali Congress, CPN-UML, and CPN-Unified Socialist have collectively opposed Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Balen Shah’s proposal to designate the New Road area as a ‘No Vehicle Zone.’

These representatives have jointly submitted an amendment proposal against Mayor Shah’s initiative.

Navaraj Parajuli, Ward Chairperson of Kathmandu Metropolitan-32, expressed that the proposal to turn the New Road area into a ‘No Vehicle Zone’ is currently impractical.

He emphasized the need to withdraw the proposal from the municipal assembly.

“This consensus was reached unanimously by ward chairpersons from all three parties,” he said, adding, “Representatives elected from the CPN-UML, Nepali Congress, and Unified Socialist have come together to draft this plan. As of now, it is not feasible to designate the New Road area as a No Vehicle Zone.”
