Dengue cases reported in 57 districts

KATHMANDU: With the onset of the rainy season, dengue cases are on the rise, now reported in 57 districts.

Dr. Gokarna Prasad Dahal, Chief of the Vector Control Section at the Epidemiology and Disease Control Division of the Ministry of Health and Population, indicated that the risk of dengue has increased as people are collecting rainwater in pots and buckets, providing breeding grounds for mosquitoes.

A total of 904 dengue cases have been detected across 57 districts. Dr. Dahal emphasized the importance of taking precautions to protect against dengue.

Last year, 51,143 people were infected with dengue across 77 districts.

In response, 33 local levels have been directed to initiate mosquito eradication campaigns in identified high-risk areas.

Symptoms of dengue include high fever, headache, body pain, and joint pain.

The Ministry has urged people to sleep under mosquito nets, wear long-sleeved clothing, and keep their surroundings clean to prevent mosquito bites.
