Govt calls cooperative fraud victims for talks

KATHMANDU: The government has initiated a dialogue with aggrieved cooperative fraud victims who have been staging protests in Kathmandu.

The government’s interest in dialogue with victims of cooperative fraud has come amidst their intensified protests against the government.

During the ongoing protests, victims have been invited to the Ministry of Land Management, Cooperatives, and Poverty Alleviation for discussions.

The victims of cooperative fraud have chosen Kushlav KC, the president of the Federation for Protection of Cooperative Depositors National Campaign, and senior advisor Bhim Kumar Shrestha to represent them in the discussion with the government.

Currently, over 350 victims from various cooperatives are actively participating in the protests.

Among the 7.4 million depositors, 1.4 million have filed complaints of being victims of fraud.
