All four RSP ministers hold shares worth millions



KATHMANDU: All four ministers from the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) currently hold shares worth millions of rupees, with some ministers holding shares in their own names and others in the names of family members.

According to the property details of the Council of Ministers revealed by the government on Tuesday, RSP ministers, along with ministers from other parties, possess significant shareholdings.

Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane’s property details indicate that he owns shares through his wife.

His wife holds a 25 percent share in 10 ropanis of land owned by Gopi Krishna Private Limited, as well as shares worth Rs 87.5 million in Gopi Krishna Central Complex, Rs 30 million in Gopi Krishna International Nari TV Pvt. Ltd, and Rs 10 million in Gopi Krishna Kamakchya Media.

Similarly, Bhiraj Bhakta Shrestha, Minister of Youth and Sports, holds shares worth more than Rs 10 million, although these assets were not mentioned in his property details.

Dol Prasad Aryal, Minister for Labor, Employment, and Social Security, also holds shares in various companies worth more than Rs 10 million, claiming these shares were acquired through business.

His holdings include:

  • Rs 1 million in Mega Bank
  • Rs 3.5 million in Big Investment
  • Rs 900,000 in People Investment
  • Rs 1 million in Jana Sagar Cooperatives
  • Rs 11.5 million in Swayambhu Star Banquet
  • Rs 500,000 in Sumere Travels and Tours Pvt. Ltd
  • Rs 10 million in Easy Link Remit
  • Rs 300,000 in APA Handicrafts

His wife owns shares worth Rs 100,000 in Subarna Bhumi Cooperatives and Rs 200,000 in Samyam Cooperatives.

Sumana Shrestha, Minister for Education, Science, and Technology, also holds shares, which she claims to have acquired from her salary and from her father.

Other ministers’ shareholdings include:

  • Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Raghu Bir Mahaseth’s wife holds shares worth Rs 500,000 in Goodwill Finance and Laxmi Bank, Rs 10 million in Mahila Laghubitta, and Rs 25 million in Corporate Bank Birgunj.
  • Minister for Federal Affairs and General Administration Bhanu Bhakta Joshi’s wife holds shares worth Rs 800,000.
  • Minister for Communication and Information Technology, Rekha Sharma, owns only IPOs.
  • Law Minister Padam Giri holds shares worth Rs 5 million in New Era Restaurant and Party Palace in Pokhara.
  • Cooperatives Minister Bal Ram Adhikari’s son holds shares worth Rs 1.5 million in Vision Energy in Sankhuwasabha.
