KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has emphasized the importance of enhancing bilateral cooperation between Nepal and Qatar to further strengthen their relationship.

During bilateral discussions with the Amir of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani, who arrived in Nepal on a two-day state visit, Prime Minister Dahal highlighted the ample investment opportunities available in Nepal, particularly in agriculture, tourism, and infrastructure sectors.

He underscored the significant role Nepali migrant workers in Qatar play in fostering friendly relations between the two countries and called for deeper ties in the future.

Additionally, Prime Minister Dahal requested Qatar’s support in ensuring the safe return of Nepali student Bipin Joshi, who has been missing since the conflict between Israel and Hamas.

Expressing confidence in the growing bilateral relations, Prime Minister Dahal proposed the establishment of flights from Lumbini and Pokhara to Qatar, as well as the amendment and update of existing agreements and memoranda of understanding between the two nations.

Moreover, he stressed Nepal’s commitment to economic development and sought Qatar’s assistance in key infrastructure projects such as international-standard sports stadiums, hydropower generation, and healthcare facilities.

The Prime Minister also urged Qatar to take action for the safe release of Bipin Joshi and expressed hope for peace in West Asia.

Nepal and Qatar agreed to establish a joint task force to facilitate investment and mutual cooperation in the days ahead.
