KATHMANDU: Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani of Qatar engaged in discussions with Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal on Wednesday during his two-day state visit to Nepal.

The Qatar Emir arrived in Kathmandu on Tuesday afternoon, initiating his visit to Nepal.

The leaders convened at Hotel Solti this morning for their meeting, during which various bilateral agreements, totaling eleven, were anticipated to be signed.

Among these agreements, Nepal has prepared to finalize a new labor pact with Qatar, recognizing it as one of the primary destinations for Nepali migrant workers.

Currently, there are approximately 370,000 Nepali laborers employed in Qatar.

Later in the afternoon, Prime Minister Dahal is set to host a lunch in honor of Emir Al Thani at Hotel Dwarika.

Emir Al Thani’s visit to Nepal, upon the invitation of President Ram Chandra Paudel, signifies the deepening of bilateral ties between the two nations.

His visit commenced with a courtesy call on President Paudel on Tuesday, followed by a dinner graced by diverse cultural presentations.

President Paudel warmly received the Emir at Tribhuvan International Airport upon his arrival, after which bilateral discussions took place at the Presidential Office in Sheetal Niwas between President Paudel and the Qatari delegation, led by Emir Al Thani himself.
