KATHMANDU: The traffic police intensified its scrutiny against the helmetless and reckless motorcycle riders in Kathmandu on Sunday.
The police made 241 drivers face action on charge of reckless driving on the Holi day.
According to SSP Jeevan Kumar Shrestha of the Kathmandu Metropolitan Traffic Police, 241 vehicle drivers were taken action against from morning until 12 noon in the Kathmandu Valley.
Out of them, 233 were two-wheeler riders and eight were four-wheeler drivers.
SSP Shrestha informed that those who were found without proper documents were among those facing action.
Action was taken against those not wearing helmets, riding at high speeds, driving recklessly, carrying three passengers, and driving under the influence of alcohol.
Various programs for Holi have been organized in places like Basantapur, Durbar Marga, Samakhusi, Thamel, and other locations in Kathmandu.
Visitors to Basantapur are not allowed to enter from New Road and Sundhara. Similarly, a diversion has been arranged at Durbar Marga as well.
