Govt taking strong measures to address cooperative victims’ grievances: Home Minister Lamichhane

CHITWAN: Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane has stated that the government is actively working to address the issues observed nationwide regarding cooperatives.

Speaking to journalists at Bharatpur Airport, Chitwan on Sunday, he mentioned the government’s efforts to address the problems through dialogue with the cooperatives victims.

He emphasized resolving the issues faced by cooperatives across the country.

He highlighted that efforts are being made to recover the savings of depositors, even by confiscating the assets of those responsible for misappropriating cooperative funds.

Home Minister Lamichhane assured that steps have been taken to ensure the return of depositors’ funds, even by seizing the assets of the relevant culprits.

Regarding the control over individuals who have absconded after misusing cooperative funds, Lamichhane mentioned that the government is exercising its full authority to manage the situation.

He expressed confidence in the swift apprehension of individuals like GB Rai, who have fled after misusing cooperative funds, attributing it to the government’s dedicated investigation, which has not been publicly disclosed until now.

In a separate context, he repeated the government’s commitment to launch special programs for Chepang community.

He also informed that discussions with experts and stakeholders have commenced this year to implement budget allocations for various projects for the marginalized communities.
