CHITWAN: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs, Rabi Lamichhane, has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to addressing the challenges faced by cooperatives nationwide.

In a discussion with journalists held in Chitwan today, Minister Lamichhane emphasized the government’s proactive approach in resolving issues through constructive dialogue with cooperative stakeholders.

He stated, “Efforts have been made to reach a consensus between the government negotiation team and cooperative stakeholders. The agreements reached will be implemented promptly.”

Furthermore, Minister Lamichhane assured that the government is dedicated to ensuring the return of depositors’ savings, even if it involves recovering funds from those responsible for misappropriating cooperative finances.

Regarding the pursuit of G.B. Rai, a fugitive implicated in the misappropriation of cooperative funds, Lamichhane affirmed that law enforcement agencies are actively engaged in apprehending him. He expressed confidence in Rai’s imminent arrest, emphasizing that the government’s investigative efforts must remain confidential until successful completion.

“The government is committed to upholding the rule of law, ensuring the protection of innocent individuals,” stated Minister Lamichhane, emphasizing the importance of adhering to legal procedures while striving for tangible outcomes, despite potential challenges in the process.

Switching focus, Lamichhane underscored the government’s dedication to addressing the needs of the marginalized Chepang community in Chitwan district. He pledged to collaborate with experts and stakeholders to develop initiatives tailored to the community’s requirements, utilizing available resources effectively.

As the government commits to fostering inclusive development and justice, Minister Lamichhane’s assurances reflect a concerted effort to uphold accountability, empower marginalized communities, and uphold the principles of good governance.
