KATHMANDU: Janaki Prasad Yadav, a lawmaker representing the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) in Lumbini Province, has been suspended following allegations of corruption.

The Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) recently brought corruption charges against Yadav and 18 others.

Yadav, who was elected to the Lumbini Provincial Assembly from Kapilvastu constituency 3 (2), faces accusations of involvement in corruption and unauthorized deforestation activities.

The case specifically pertains to the unauthorized felling of trees, exceeding the limits set by official permission.

It is alleged that the Gautam Buddha Collaborative Forest Management Committee is implicated in these illegal deforestation activities.
