PM Dahal announces fiscal handover of projects worth less than Rs 30 million to provinces and local levels

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister and Parliamentary Party leader of the CPN (Maoist Centre), Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, declared that projects worth less than Rs 30 million would be delegated to provincial and local governments, emphasizing fiscal decentralization to fortify federalism.

Speaking at the CPN (Maoist Centre) parliamentary party meeting held at Singha Durbar this morning, PM Dahal highlighted the government’s strategy to transfer authority for project selection to provincial and local levels.

“The federal government will oversee projects with strategic significance, while those valued at less than Rs 30 million will be managed by provinces and local governments,” he stated.

Furthermore, he stressed the need to abandon the practice of allocating excessive budgets to various categories, leading to insufficient funds for crucial projects. The government, he assured, would take necessary measures to complete ongoing projects.

Addressing the Balkumari incident, PM Dahal mentioned that he had received the related report and was currently reviewing it.

“After scrutinizing the report of the Balkumari incident, appropriate actions will be taken. The government initiated an investigation by forming a commission, and the report is currently being reviewed. This matter falls within the government’s jurisdiction, and I urge the opposition to adhere to political decorum,” he emphasized.

Additionally, PM Dahal called upon lawmakers to assist in passing bills, as the government plans to introduce them in the parliament following the next cabinet meeting.
