Temperature drops to minus 10 degrees Celsius in Humla

SIMKOT, HUMLA: Himalayan district Humla is experiencing the coldest temperature felt this year.

Although not covered in snow, the locals report an exceptionally chilly atmosphere in the heart of winter.

With changing weather in the district, the mornings have witnessed a significant rise in coldness since the appearance of low clouds. Starting from Tuesday evening, the temperature has notably dropped to extreme cold levels.

According to Mendra Singh, the chief of Simkot Airport, the current temperature at the measuring instrument at the airport is minus 10 degrees Celsius.

“Today, the temperature in Humla has reached minus 10 degrees Celsius, while a sharp drop in temperature is observed in northern Namkha,” stated Chief Singh.

Due to the weather change in the district, daily activities have become challenging, affecting not only the residents but also impacting air travel.

Mendra Singh emphasized the need for caution and urged everyone to use warm clothing, especially advising elderly and young individuals to wear layers and stay warm.

With the increased cold, locals and officials have started collecting firewood daily for essential heating needs. In the harsh winter weather, the cost of a bundle of firewood has surged up to Rs. 1,000.

The plummeting temperature has also created challenges for employees working in government and non-government offices in Simkot.
