BAGLUNG: Extreme cold weather has forced the closure of schools in the Dhorpatan valley area of Baglung.

A total of 6 schools in Dhorpatan Municipality-9 have suspended regular operations due to the harsh winter conditions, with one school opting for a mobile education approach.

Gyanendra Sapkota, the Head of the Education Branch of Dhorpatan Municipality, revealed that these schools will remain closed until February 13.

Approximately 300 students are affected by the temporary closure.

Sapkota stated, “Six schools in the Dhorpatan valley area are currently closed, and they are scheduled to reopen after February.”

Prem Bahadur BK, a teacher at Siddhabarah Primary School, Chhentung, explained that the decision to close the school was made in response to the challenging teaching conditions in Dhorpatan.

He emphasized the vulnerability of young children studying in the region and cited concerns about their health in the cold climate.

BK pointed out that the use of cement buildings exacerbates the issue, making it essential to prioritize the well-being of the students by temporarily halting regular classes.
