Rabi Lamichhane suspended as federal MP

KATHMANDU: Rastriya Swatantra Party chair Rabi Lamichhane has been suspended from his position as a federal Member of Parliament.

The Federal Parliament Secretariat issued a suspension notice on Monday, based on a letter sent by the Kaski District Police Office via email on Sunday.

Lamichhane was suspended following the registration of a money laundering case against him at the Kaski District Court by the District Government Attorney’s Office.

Speaker Devraj Ghimire sought legal consultation throughout Monday before issuing the suspension notice, opting for a middle-ground approach.

Lamichhane now faces potential legal consequences, including imprisonment, if the allegations against him are proven.
