KATHMANDU: Since June 10, continuous rainfall has triggered floods and landslides across various parts of the country, resulting in the deaths of 195 people.
According to Nepal Police Spokesperson Dan Bahadur Karki, the fatalities include three people in Kathmandu Valley, 27 in Koshi Province, eight in Madhes Province, 36 in Bagmati Province, 56 in Gandaki Province, 37 in Lumbini Province, 13 in Karnali Province, and 15 in Sudurpaschim Province.
Several others have been injured due to these natural disasters, including two people in Koshi Province, one in Madhes Province, 41 in Bagmati Province, two in Gandaki Province, and one each in Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim Provinces.
Search efforts for the missing are ongoing.
To date, 408 houses have been inundated by floods across the country. Additionally, 342 houses, 121 sheds, 51 bridges, six schools, and two government offices have been damaged by the disasters.
The number of livestock killed stands at 909.
Spokesperson Karki also reported that a total of 5,883 households have been displaced during this period.
