Tanahu Bus Accident: Death toll rises to 27



KATHMANDU: A passenger bus plunged into the Marsyangdi River near Ainapahara in Anbukhaireni, Tanahu, on Friday, resulting in the deaths of 27 people, according to Chief District Officer of Tanahu, Janardan Gautam.

Among the deceased, 15 are female, 11 are male, and one is a minor.

The bus, bearing the Indian number plate UP 53 FT 7623, was carrying 43 passengers at the time of the accident.

Sixteen injured passengers have been airlifted by a Nepal Army MI-16 helicopter to Kathmandu for treatment at Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital (TUTH) in Maharajgunj.

Search and rescue operations are ongoing for the remaining missing passengers.
