KATHMANDU: Mukul Dhakal, former General Secretary of Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), has alleged that Deputy Speaker Indira Rana engaged in financial dealings aimed at sending Nepalis to America.

Dhakal asserted his claim today via Facebook, stating, “I have evidence regarding the Deputy Speaker’s involvement in the matter of sending Nepalis to America.”

He disclosed that a year ago, the party had received a complaint alleging that the Deputy Speaker’s office had accepted money under the guise of facilitating travel to America.

As the General Secretary, Dhakal had also initiated an investigation into the matter within the party.

However, following his expulsion from RSP, Dakal said the investigation was stalled.

He accused party chairman Rabi Lamichhane of complicity in covering up the issue, stating, “The Rabi Lamichhane faction misused the party’s letterhead to propagate falsehoods after the incident became public.”

Calling for immediate action, Dhakal demanded Deputy Speaker Rana’s resignation to facilitate an impartial investigation.

He emphasized the importance of setting an example in Nepali politics, which he described as plagued by moral crises.

“If the state undertakes an investigation, determining the identities of those five individuals should not pose a challenge,” Dhakal remarked, expressing readiness to cooperate with government inquiries.

He added, “I invite state agencies to investigate this matter. I stand prepared to provide the evidence I possess and disclose all relevant details.”
