Country will advance further under PM Dahal’s leadership: Mahesh Bartaula
The CPN-UML Chief Whip, Mahesh Bartaula, asserted that the country will advance under the leadership of Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’. Speaking to journalists outside the Parliament building on Sunday, Bartaula dismissed claims that ministers within the government are disregarding the Prime Minister. He emphasized that the Prime Minister is currently in a strong position and that it is the responsibility of the political parties in the government to reinforce his leadership.
Twelve, including Chief Secretary Aryal, face corruption charges
The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has filed a corruption case against Chief Secretary Baikuntha Aryal, alleging irregularities in the printing of excise duty stickers. The case was filed today at the Special Court, accusing Chief Secretary Aryal of mismanagement during his tenure as Secretary of the Ministry of Communication.
Record high deposits in banking sector, but no signs of increased loan demand
The deposits in banks and financial institutions, including those from the general public, have reached Rs 6.265 trillion. As of last Wednesday, deposits in banks and financial institutions reached this peak, marking the highest level recorded so far. According to data on deposits and loans published by the Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB), deposits in banks and financial institutions were Rs 6.190 trillion by the end of Baishakh (May 13). Since mid-May, there has been a significant increase. Banks attribute this growth to the government’s increased spending as the fiscal year-end approaches.
NEPSE witnesses a single-digit decline, with trading volume at Rs 4.37 billion
On the first trading day of the week, the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) experienced a minor decline. The NEPSE index decreased by 5.37 points, reaching 2062.94. On Sunday, 95.61 million shares were traded 61,513 times across 317 companies, amounting to a total trading value of Rs 4.37 billion (4,374,597,458). Similarly, the Sensitive Index decreased by 0.63 points, the Float Index by 0.36 points, and the Sensitive Float Index by 0.15 points.
Nationalize all land across the country: NA lawmaker Gautam
National Assembly (NA) member Bamdev Gautam has stated that all land across the country should be nationalized. He made this statement while speaking at the National Assembly meeting on Sunday.He argued that Nepal cannot achieve development unti l all land, not just agricultural land, is nationalized.
Gold price down by Rs 2,700 per tola today
The price of gold decreased by Rs 2,700 per tola in the Nepali market today. According to the Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers’ Association, the price of fine gold is fixed at Rs 142,000 per tola, while standard gold is traded at Rs 141,300 per tola. On Friday, the gold was traded at Rs 144,700 per tola. Likewise, the standard gold was traded at Rs 144,000 per tola. Similarly, the price of silver has been fixed at Rs 1,815 per tola today.
JSP Nepal withdraws support from Lumbini provincial government
The Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) Nepal has withdrawn its support from the Lumbini provincial government. In a press statement, the party announced that it will now position itself on the opposition bench, effective immediately. Despite the withdrawal, the provincial government will retain its majority. The current Chief Minister, Jokh Bahadur Mahara of the CPN (Maoist Center), continues to hold his position.
