NC Ramechhap Clash: Arrest warrants issued against eighteen, three detained

KATHMANDU: The number of detainees has reached three in connection with the clash between two factions of the Nepali Congress (NC) in Ramechhap.

Arrest warrants have been issued against 18 people involved in the altercation.

Among those arrested are Jit Bahadur Magar, 51, of Sunapati Rural Municipality-2; Chandra Bahadur Thapa Magar, 27, of Khanda Devi Rural Municipality-1; and Bir Bahadur Tamang.

Bir Bahadur Tamang was apprehended on June 12 in Koteshwor.

The other two were arrested on Friday in Dhumbarahi, according to SP Angur GC of the Valley Crime Investigation Office.

The clash occurred on May 19 during the district convention of indigenous groups held in Galwa, Khanda Devi Rural Municipality-7, leading to the event’s cancellation.

Following the incident, both factions filed attempted murder charges against each other at the Ramechhap District Police Office.

The police are currently investigating the matter.

Bir Bahadur Tamang led one faction, while Jit Bahadur Magar led the other.

Arrest warrants have been issued by the Ramechhap District Court for 10 individuals from Bir Bahadur’s faction and 8 from Jit Bahadur’s faction.
