Tarakeshwor Municipality to ensure monetary incentive for third-gender people



KATHMANDU: The Tarakeshwor municipality in Kathmandu has announced a new initiative to provide a monthly incentive of Rs 5,000 per capita to individuals belonging to the third-gender community.

This provision will take effect from the upcoming fiscal year.

Municipality Mayor Krishna Hari Maharjan stated that those who are legally recognized as third-gender will receive this monthly allowance, as envisaged by the Constitution.

He also discussed further plans of the local government to implement programs aimed at creating a violence-free society by addressing all forms of violence, including gender-based, domestic, and violence against women.

A participatory approach will be adopted in the implementation of these programs, he added.
