KATHMANDU: The Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has decided to file a corruption case against Chief Secretary Baikuntha Aryal, alongside Bikal Paudel and other officials.
The decision was made during a meeting of the anti-graft body held on Friday, accusing these individuals of corruption related to the printing of excise duty stickers.
During Aryal’s nine-month tenure as Secretary at the Ministry of Communication, the security printing press and print cell had entered into an agreement to print 433.2 million stickers for Rs 380 million.
Bikal Poudel served as the Executive Director of the Security Printing Press at the time of the agreement.
Upon registration of the case, Aryal will be automatically suspended.
Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has reportedly suggested that Chief Secretary Aryal resign from his position.
According to the CIAA, more than half a dozen investigations are currently underway against Aryal.
