KATHMANDU: Baglung district has witnessed a staggering 38 incidents of forest fires in the past two months alone.

Laxmi KC, spokesperson for the Division Forest Office of Baglung, reported that forest fires in Nisi Khola Rural Municipality and Dhorpatan Municipality remain uncontained.

Currently, 15 forest fire incidents are still raging, covering over 1,200 hectares of land.

Areas like Salleri Community Forest, numerous forests in Galkot Municipality, and over two dozen forests in Tarakhola, Dhorpatan, and Nisi Khola have all fallen victim to forest fires in recent weeks, posing significant threats to local wildlife and ecosystems.

Local representatives are facing challenges exacerbated by dry seasons and storms in their efforts to control these fires, emphasizing the urgent need for coordinated action to mitigate the damage caused by these destructive blazes.
