Home Minister and Chairman of the Rastriya Swatantra Party, Rabi Lamichhane, has made a firm commitment to apprehend GB Rai, irrespective of his whereabouts, amidst allegations of cooperative fraud implicating both Lamichhane and Rai. Speaking at a party event held in Kalimati on Saturday, Minister Lamichhane reaffirmed his determination to ensure Rai’s arrest, whether he is hiding within the country or abroad. Lamichhane expressed concern over his name being linked to Rai’s activities, emphasizing that any association he had with Rai ceased upon his departure from Galaxy Television.

Three members of a family die from electrocution

Three individuals from the same family tragically lost their lives due to an electric shock in Dang on Saturday. According to Janak Bahadur Malla, Spokesperson of the District Police Office, Dang, Dilasara KC, 55, Gorakh Bahadur KC, 60, and their 4-year-old relative Krishna KC, succumbed to the electric shock.

Officials decry dissolution of National Land Commission

Officials from the dissolved National Land Commission have voiced serious concerns regarding the decision to disband the commission. During a press conference held on Saturday in Kathmandu, these officials emphasized that the government’s choice to dissolve the commission has captured their significant attention, particularly due to the numerous unfinished tasks related to managing landless Dalits and the disorganized settlement population.

PM Dahal extends invitation to Nagarik Unmukti Party to join government

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has extended an invitation to the Nagarik Unmukti Party to join the government. In a meeting held today, PM Dahal discussed the matter with Chairman Ranjita Shrestha and other leaders of the Nagarik Unmukti Party. PM Dahal has proposed to allocate one ministerial portfolio to the party and urged them to join the government.

Over 3,000 police personnel to intensify security measures for holi celebration

In preparation for the Holi festival, the District Police Range, Kathmandu, is bolstering security measures across the Kathmandu Valley to ensure safety and orderliness. A total of 3,000 security personnel will be deployed throughout the Valley on the day of Holi to prevent any potential incidents during the festivities. Superintendent of Police Navaraj Adhikari, spokesperson of the District Police Range Kathmandu, emphasized that strict actions will be taken against individuals engaged in unlawful activities, including driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, creating disturbances, and causing inconvenience to others during the celebration.

13 Nepali nationals rescued from Chinese Criminal Group in Myanmar

Thirteen Nepali nationals have been rescued from the clutches of a Chinese criminal group operating in Myanmar. These individuals, who were forcibly engaged in digital crimes and fraud in rural villages of Myanmar, were successfully rescued and repatriated to Nepal on Friday. The rescue operation was a collaborative effort between the Embassy of Nepal in Thailand and Myanmar authorities. Ambassador of Nepal for Thailand, Dhan Bahadur Oli, confirmed that the Nepali nationals were handed over to Nepali authorities by the Myanmar police after their rescue.

Enhanced security measures implemented in Kathmandu Valley for safe Holi celebration

In preparation for the Holi celebration, the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office has initiated extensive measures to ensure safety and orderliness. A total of 900 police personnel would be deployed throughout the valley to mitigate accidents and uphold traffic regulations. According to the Valley Traffic Police Office, 90 checkpoints would be strategically established at various locations and entry points across the valley, beginning from 7 am.

Only 27% of population has access to pure drinking water

Recent findings reveal that a mere 27% of Nepal’s population has access to pure drinking water, as reported by the Ministry of Water Supply and Sanitation. The staggering statistic highlights a significant disparity, with 73% of the population lacking access to clean water due to mineral deficiencies, particularly iron, in water sources. This issue is exacerbated by deteriorating water pipelines and tanks, some of which are over a century old.

Tip Top Nepal wins the RBB NVA Men’s volleyball championship

Tip Top Help Nepal Sports Club has clinched the title of the NB Volleyball Men’s Championship 2080. In the final match held today at the Covered Hall of Tripureshwor, Tip Top Nepal defeated Tribhuvan Army Club 3-2 sets to claim the championship title.
