KATHMANDU: Officials from the dissolved National Land Commission have voiced serious concerns regarding the decision to disband the commission.
During a press conference held on Saturday in Kathmandu, these officials emphasized that the government’s choice to dissolve the commission has captured their significant attention, particularly due to the numerous unfinished tasks related to managing landless Dalits and the disorganized settlement population.
Keshav Niroula, the Chairman of the now-dissolved Commission, expressed astonishment at the notion of the commission being dissolved while crucial work on managing landless Dalits and disorganized settlements was still ongoing.
He defended the Commission’s endeavors, stating they had been tirelessly working to fulfill their tasks and expressing confidence that the commission could fully function with the trust bestowed upon it to continue its mission.
Niroula criticized the dissolution as a ploy to perpetuate politics under the guise of addressing the plight of the landless people.
