KATHMANDU: In preparation for the Holi festival, the District Police Range, Kathmandu, is bolstering security measures across the Kathmandu Valley to ensure safety and orderliness.

A total of 3,000 security personnel will be deployed throughout the Valley on the day of Holi to prevent any potential incidents during the festivities.

Superintendent of Police Navaraj Adhikari, spokesperson of the District Police Range Kathmandu, emphasized that strict actions will be taken against individuals engaged in unlawful activities, including driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, creating disturbances, and causing inconvenience to others during the celebration.

“We urge everyone to celebrate Holi in a dignified and peaceful manner. Any violation of the law will be met with firm action,” stated Adhikari.

The security deployment consists of 2,500 uniformed personnel and 500 in plainclothes to effectively maintain law and order during the festival. Police checkpoints will be operational across the Kathmandu Valley starting Sunday morning to prevent any untoward incidents.

Additionally, individuals participating in activities such as throwing water balloons and smearing colors without consent will also face legal consequences.
