Banira Foundation to recognize three distinguished personalities with awards

KATHMANDU: The Banira Foundation has announced its decision to honor three outstanding individuals for their remarkable contributions to literature and the arts in Nepal.

The prestigious ‘Banira Pragya Award’, accompanied by a cash prize of Rs 100,000, will be conferred upon Prof. Pushkar Lohani in recognition of his significant contributions to the realms of poetry, fiction, novels, and literary criticism.

Similarly, the ‘Banira Shankar Award’, also endowed with a cash prize of Rs 100,000, will be bestowed upon artist Madandas Shrestha for his exceptional dedication to the advancement of theater and cinema over the span of six decades.

Additionally, Ms. Anita Tuladhar will be honored with the Banira Award, carrying a purse of Rs. 50,000, for her invaluable contributions to the enrichment of Nepali literature through her compelling storytelling and poetry.

Narendra Raj Prasai, the member secretary of the foundation, announced these awards, which are established in memory of the esteemed litterateur Dr. Banira Giri.
