Temperature in Kathmandu plummets following Thursday’s rainfall

The Kathmandu Valley experienced a significant drop in its minimum temperature due to Thursday’s precipitation and subsequent atmospheric changes. According to the Weather Forecasting Division, the minimum temperature in the Valley plummeted to 3.8 degrees Celsius at 5:45 am today (Friday), showcasing a notable decrease from the 8.5 degrees Celsius recorded just yesterday (Thursday).

Meteorological Division reports heaviest winter rainfall on Thursday

Nepal experienced heavy rainfall in the lower belt accompanied by snowfall in high hills and mountainous regions, marking Thursday’s precipitation as the most substantial of this winter season. According to the Meteorological Forecasting Division, Thursday’s rainfall was the heaviest recorded so far this winter, with Makwanpur receiving the highest amount at 28.2 millimeters. The division noted that the hilly region received more rainfall compared to the Terai region, with the heaviest rainfall observed in mid-hill areas of Bagmati Province, particularly Kavre, Godawari, and Sindhuli.

CPN-UML demands govt to present Balkumari incident investigation report in parliament

The CPN-UML, the main opposition party, has pressed the government to present the investigation report of the Balkumari incident in the parliament. During the House of Representatives (HoR) meeting on Friday, CPN-UML lawmaker Yogesh Bhattarai called upon the government to share the report with the parliament. Furthermore, Bhattarai emphasized that Minister Prakash Jwala, implicated by the investigation commission in the incident, along with the Prime Minister acknowledging the deaths of two youths, should step down from his positions. He also urged Home Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha to resign.

Eight Nepalis deported from USA for illegal entry

Eight Nepalis who entered the United States illegally have been deported back to Nepal. Those who reached the USA through unauthorized routes returned on Wednesday, landing at Tribhuvan International Airport around 3:30 pm, as informed by Gogan Bahadur Hamal, the Chief Immigration Officer of the Immigration Department. After being apprehended for illegal entry, the eight Nepalis were kept under control by the United States and repatriated to Nepal via a chartered flight.

Actress Rekha Thapa gives birth to baby girl

Film actress Rekha Thapa announced the arrival of her newborn daughter on Friday, sharing the delightful news through her Facebook account. Accompanied by a heartwarming photograph captured in a hospital room, Rekha is seen embracing her daughter while seated beside her husband. In the post, she disclosed that their daughter has been named Baibhabi Rajya Laxmi Shahi Thakuri. In her Facebook caption, Rekha expressed, “Behold, there is a circle of silver around the black clouds in the sky; behold, there is a profound reason for your birth on earth.”

26-day-old infant stolen from Paropakar Maternity and Women’s Hospital

Police have received a complaint of a 26-day-old infant being stolen from Paropakar Maternity and Women’s Hospital at Thapathali, Kathmandu. According to Navraj Adhikari, the spokesperson for the District Police Range, Kathmandu, a complaint of a 26-day-old baby gone missing has been lodged, and the search operation is currently underway. A woman had earlier asked to hold the baby for a while, who was brought to the hospital for treatment, according to the complainer.
